Check your Jabber media statistics while on a call. To do so, press [Ctrl]+[Shift]+s and analyse the results.

  • 'Current packet loss' figures should be under 2%
  • 'Roundtrip/Latency' figures should be under 100ms

Jabber is an instant messaging and calling application available to CSIRO staff on Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. Unfortunately Jabber is not available on Linux machines, so Linux users are encouraged to install the mobile app on their iOS or Android device. Jabber has the same functionality when working from home (while VPN'd) as it does when working in the office. If you're not VPN'd, file sharing and image snipping are not available.

Install

If you are setting up Jabber for the first time on a device, we recommend that you check if your profile is enabled for that device first. To do so visit the Self Service Portal (Citrix/VPN required). Once enabled, Jabber can be installed free of charge by clicking the appropriate icon below. After installation, sign in using your ident@csiro.au and CSIRO password.
