It is recommended that you use the Webex application to connect to a Webex meeting rather than a traditional phone so that video and content sharing is supported further information is available from conferencing.csiro.au

If a traditional phone is the only option use one of the following methods to connect:

  1. From a CSIRO Desktop Phone or standard Australian enterprise phone system:
    Dial 0 (for an outside line) followed by 02 6246 4433 and enter the 584580318 when prompted.
  2. From a mobile phone or landline within Australia:
    Dial 02 6246 4433 and enter the 584580318 when prompted.

CSIRO accepts calls from endpoints that support SIP (preferred) or H323.

Video Conferencing vendors use a variety of different dialling formats.  Please try dialling 584580318@csiro.webex.com in the first instance otherwise please look for the name of your IT environment which CSIRO is unable to support directly. conferencing endpoint or infrastructure in the list below and try the suggested formatting.  Please consult your local IT support if these methods are not successful as outbound calls are heavily dependent on your IT environment which CSIRO is unable to assist with.

From a Video Conferencing Room external to CSIRO (Tandberg, Cisco, Codian, Lifesize Miral H323/SIP compliant infrastructure):

It is recommended that you use the Webex application to connect to a Webex meeting rather than a Skype for Business or Lync for increased functionality if you are connecting from your desktop further information is available from conferencing.csiro.au

If you are connecting from a huddle space your organisation uses Skype for Business with Open Federation or federated with lync.webex.com use 584580318.csiro@lync.webex.com

How do I carry out a test call?

It is strongly recommended that you carry out a test call prior to your conference, especially if this is your first time dialling into CSIRO.

From a Video Conference Unit
For testing dial 0262463194@csiro.au to view a CSIRO test video.  If unsuccessful, alternative dial methods are available in the "How do I dial from a Video Conferencing Room?" section above.

From Skype for Business or Lync
Contact your meeting oraganiser for a test meeting to be setup and then follow the instructions under "How do I dial 584580318@csiro.webex.com from Skype for Business or Lync?" above.

Support for External Collaborators

Video Conferencing is heavily dependent on the way systems have been implemented within an organisation.  As such, any connection issues should be reported to your local IT support team who will be best equipped to troubleshoot the problem with assistance from this document.

CSIRO support can be contacted via your organisation's IT support team be calling +61 2 6276 6838 (option 1, option 1) and asking for the Unified Communications Team. Note that all support is on a best effort basis and due to the wide variety of video conferencing environments your first step should be providing this document to your organisations internal support.
