I can't hear other participants in the meeting. What can I do about this?
Meeting Center
- Make sure you see the 'connected to audio' icon below.
- Check your device volume.
- If you are using computer audio, make sure the correct audio device is being used. To do so, click 'Connected to Audio' > 'Test computer audio' and select the appropriate Speaker and Microphone devices from the drop-down lists.
Video Conference Room
- Make sure the correct TelePresence number has been dialled.
- Ensure that the room volume is up around the 50% mark.
- Ask participants at the far end to ensure they are not muted.
I don't think other participants can hear me. What can I do about this?
- Make sure you can see the 'Connected to Audio' message on the Quick Start page.
- Confirm you are not muted (check the device and the Meeting Center window).
- Ensure the correct microphone device has been selected (click 'Connected to Audio' > 'Test computer audio').
My video is not working. What can I do about this?
- Make sure your video is turned on (click the
icon). - Close any other applications that may be using your camera (e.g., Skype).
- Ensure that the correct device is being used. To do so, click the
icon and select the appropriate device from the drop-down list.
How do I change my audio connection?
To switch from Phone Audio to Computer​ Audio:
- On the Quick Start page, click 'Connected to Audio'.
- Click 'Switch Audio'.
- Click 'Call Using Computer'.
To switch from Computer Audio to Phone Audio:
- On the Quick Start page, click 'Connected to Audio'.
- Click 'Switch Audio'.
- Click 'Call Me' or 'I Will Call In' and follow the prompts.
How do I select a different camera?
To select a different camera, click the
icon located in the Participants pane and select the appropriate device from the drop-down list.
Why can I only see one person at a time when joining from a VC room?
It is normal to only be able to see one person at a time when joining from a VC room. This will be the active speaker - the person who spoke last. The ability to send thumbnail images of all other participants in a conference to VC rooms is on our roadmap.
Why am I hearing hold music?
A participant within the meeting has placed the Webex call on hold. As Host:
- Use the audio indicator in the participants panel to identify whose line it is and mute that participant.
- Send the participant a chat message letting them know they have been placed on mute.
Can I turn off the beep that is played when someone joins/leaves a Webex meeting?
Yes, you can turn off entry and exit announcements from the Quick Start page. To do so:
- Click on the 'Preferences' menu.
- Untick the 'Entry and Exit Tone' option.
Is there a test Webex meeting I can join to test my audio and video?
There isn't a 24/7 test meeting that you can join, but as an organiser you can book a meeting several days prior to the schedule event to allow participants to test their audio and video.
Do you have to mute yourself via the Meeting Centre window?
No you do not have to mute yourself via the Meeting Centre Window but it is the recommended method. If you do mute by pressing the mute button on your physical phone, you will be muted but your host and other participants will not see your mute status in the Meeting Centre Window as there is no correlation between the two.
After the first time I set the country to dial to be Australia, will this be the default? Will selecting the country default to Australia after the first time of using call me?
Yes. By selecting a country for the first time. It will automatically be listed at the top the next time you use Webex.
Can participants unmute themselves?
Yes participants can unmute themselves, even if they have been muted by the meeting Host.
Do participants know that they have been muted if the host decides to mute the participant?
Yes the participant will know they have been muted as the participant will now notice a red microphone button and a cross next to their handset.
I use Jabber in Computer Mode - should I be using Computer Audio for Webex?
If you use Jabber in Computer Mode you can use Computer Audio for Webex provided you have a computer headset. Make sure you test your audio devices first by clicking 'Change settings' located below 'Call Using Computer' in the audio menu.
